About the Currency Center
The Currency Center is a frontend-first currency product built into AeroTools. Currency metadata is loaded dynamically from Frankfurter v2, so the supported worldwide dataset is never hardcoded. Successful responses are cached locally — metadata for a week, daily rates for a day, and historical series for a month — so repeated visits are fast and offline-friendly.
Exchange rates shown here are daily reference rates, not real-time forex prices. If the data source cannot be reached, AeroTools uses the latest valid cached response when available and labels it as cached; when no valid cache exists, the interface shows an honest unavailable state instead of invented values.
A reference exchange rate is not the rate a bank, card network, or remittance provider will give you. Use the Exchange Fee Calculator to separate the reference rate from a provider's rate and see what you would actually receive after their spread and fees.
Browser extension
An AeroTools Currency Converter browser extension is in active development as a local Manifest V3 package in this repository. It is genuinely functional and can be loaded unpacked by developers, but it is not yet available for public installation. We will add an install link here only once a Web Store listing is actually available.
Frequently asked questions
Are AeroTools currency rates real-time forex prices?
No. AeroTools uses Frankfurter daily reference exchange-rate data. The rate date is shown so you can see which reference date applies.
What happens if exchange-rate data cannot be fetched?
AeroTools uses the latest valid cached response when available and labels it as cached. If no valid cache exists, it shows an unavailable state instead of inventing values.
Is the currency list hardcoded?
No. The supported currency dataset is fetched dynamically from Frankfurter and normalized in the browser. A short popular-currency list is used only for default ordering.
Why might the rate I get from my bank be different?
The reference rate is a daily market-style reference, not a price your bank or remittance provider is obligated to give you. Providers add their own spread and fees, which is why the amount you actually receive can differ.
Does AeroTools store my amount or currency choices?
Your conversion amount and selections are processed in your browser. The only requests leave the browser to retrieve public exchange-rate data, and your URL keeps only the from/to/amount you chose.
Why is there no rate for a weekend or holiday date?
Reference rates are published once per working day. On weekends and bank holidays the last published rate remains the latest reference rate, so those dates are not counted as separate data points.
